Problems usually come from wear, force, or poor installation. Pins and wafers round off from repeated use, thin stamped keys bend or shear, and springs lose tension. Door and frame movement (swollen wood, loose hinges, settled thresholds) misaligns latches and wears strike plates. Corrosion, dirt and grit bind cylinders; ice or failed batteries lock up electronic keypads. Broken keys left in cylinders and attempted extractions that score the bore are common failure points that often require a new cylinder rather than a simple key cut.

Tiger Locksmith
We come to the lock
On-site locksmith work means hands-on service at the door, the car, or the lockset itself: cylinder removal and replacement, rekeying by rearranging or swapping pin stacks, mortise lock disassembly, deadbolt servicing, latch adjustment, and on-vehicle ignition and trunk entry when keys fail. Portable key-cutting machines and pinning kits are carried so new keys can be cut and re-pinned at the location. When non-destructive entry fails, controlled drilling of the cylinder or use of replacement cores and hardened fasteners is used as a last resort. Every job happens where the lock is; there is no shop counter.
To make a visit go smoothly, clear a workspace around the door and have any original keys, fobs or keycards ready. If a vehicle is involved, keep the registration or proof of ownership within reach, because we ask to see it before we start. If it is dark, leave the porch light on if you can, and move pets away from the immediate area. If the lock is electronic, bring any control modules, backup batteries or instruction sheets. Pointing out previous repairs, unusual sounds, or how the door rubs gives immediate clues and reduces hands-on troubleshooting time.

How it goes
What happens when you call
-
You call and describe it
What the lock is doing matters more than what it is called. A key that turns halfway is a different van-load from a key snapped off.
-
We say when we can come
Honestly, for the job in front of us. If we cannot get to you we say so rather than leave you waiting.
-
We work at your door
The parts are on board. Cylinders, blanks, cases and the tools to open without wrecking the door.
-
You get keys that work
And a straight answer about whether the door needs anything else, which is usually the part nobody has told you.
